Piggery in the world is still in its infancy stage in that we are yet to have big holders of herds of pigs in their farms. And there is rising demand for pigs and their products in the markets. In the country, we are having small scale farmers with little holdings ranging from 1 to 100 pigs, and it is quite rare to find big pig farms having up to 500 pigs and above. The markets for pigs are all over the country and are yet to be adequately stocked with pig products. The market potentials of pig are yet to be fully exploited. Several millions of the country’s population eat pig meat on regular basis, and many a time they find it difficult to buy when needed.
